🎉 3 years and 100 issues: data and thoughts
Third anniversary of Windletter, and almost at the same time, we reach 100 news editions. We take the opportunity to look back and review the publication's numbers over the past year
Hello everyone and welcome to a new issue of Windletter. I'm Sergio Fernández Munguía (@Sergio_FerMun) and here we discuss the latest news in the wind power sector from a different perspective. If you enjoy the newsletter and are not subscribed, you can do so here.
Windletter is sponsored by:

The long-time readers will know that every now and then, I share an edition where I provide some data and thoughts about Windletter. And since Windletter celebrated its third anniversary last December (as LinkedIn kindly reminded me), I’ve decided to publish another one of these editions.
For me personally, these editions are very helpful, as they allow me to look back and reflect on everything that’s happened over the past year.
This is also a small exercise in transparency with you, the readers (although I like to think of you as a community around the wind energy industry), because without you, Windletter wouldn’t have a purpose.
Before we get started, I’d like to ask for a small favor. I’d love to learn more about you and get to know the Windletter community better. To that end, I’ve prepared a short survey. I’m particularly interested in your feedback: what you like, what you don’t like, and what you’d like to see in the future. The survey is anonymous, so feel free to respond with complete transparency and ease. Criticism is also welcome 🙂
It takes just 2 minutes to fill out, and it will be incredibly helpful for me. Click here or click the button below 👇
🎂 Windletter turns three: here are the numbers
📧 Editions: 42 editions from January to December 2024. This includes:
Windletter: News editions featuring an in-depth main topic and several short, commented news pieces.
Windstory: Thematic editions. These include untold stories from the sector that deserve to be shared, curiosities, and guest contributors. You can read them here.
Exclusive (!): In 2024, we had the opportunity to publish what we can consider Windletter’s first exclusive.
To be honest, it’s true that we weren’t the first to talk about this wind turbine (the press and some specialized outlets beat us to it, as expected). However, we did publish exclusive images and some data that hadn’t been shared anywhere else.
The exclusive was a huge success, becoming the most-read story in Windletter’s history. I was contacted by both national and international media, and we even reached the Chinese press, where our photos were “borrowed” and we were cited as “independent media.”
This wouldn’t have been possible without you, the community. A heartfelt thank you once again. And remember, I’m always open to receiving tips, images, videos, or rumors that you think might be of interest to the community.
👩🏼🤝🧑🏻 Subscribers: the big news is that Windletter has also been published in English since February 2024, and the reception has been really positive.
Spanish: >2,700
English: ≈1,000
📰 Page views:
Spanish: Current monthly volume is around 15,000 views.
English: Current monthly volume is around 6,000 views.
🏛 Companies and institutions reading Windletter: I’m especially proud of the snapshot below. And there are still many (but many) logos missing. Someday, I’ll update the table and maybe even organize it by sector activity. 😁
🖥 X (Twitter): although I believe Twitter has lost some value after recent changes (especially in the energy sector, though less so in other areas), I still think it’s a platform worth maintaining a presence on.
Personal account: 9,131 followers
Windletter account: 974 followers
🖥 LinkedIn: recently, I’ve been trying to be more active on LinkedIn, and I’m pleasantly surprised by the results. Feel free to follow me there as well if you’d like.
Personal account: >4,800 followers
Windletter account: >5,300 followers
🖋 Collaborations
El Periódico de la Energía: some of the main topics we cover in Windletter have been adapted for publication in El Periódico de la Energía. Ramón, if you’re reading this, thank you so much for including me! 🙂
Podcasts: since starting Windletter, I’ve had the chance to participate in several podcasts. The latest ones were with The Good MAFO, recently with Marcos Rupérez on Café y Puro, and with Marcial and Ismael on Energía a Granel (I’m now a repeat guest on this one). My main takeaway? I have a lot to improve on in front of the camera! 😂
🎓 Talks at universities: One of the side effects of Windletter is that I’ve been contacted to give some talks (or at least to try!).
Mondragón University: The team at Mondragón University kindly invited me to give a talk on the wind energy sector to students in the Master's in Energy and Power Electronics program. I had never done anything like this before. It was a pleasure and a great personal experience. Eskerrik asko David and Gonzalo for the invitation.
Complutense University of Madrid (UCM): The UCM was kind enough to invite me to give an online talk at the VI Workshop on Wind (and Marine) Energy. Another great personal experience. Many thanks to Matilde for the invitation!
💼 Sponsors
As you may have noticed, since last February, our main sponsors have been Tetrace and RenerCycle.
I’d like to take this opportunity to publicly thank them for their support and for daring to invest in this humble project. Thanks to them, Windletter is possible and sustainable over time.
A big thank you as well to FYCMA and EOI for trusting Windletter to advertise in specific editions.
Looking ahead, we’re already working on securing sponsors and collaborators for 2025. We have various sponsorship options available and are open to exploring any other proposals. Announce your services or products, a course or training, an event or trade fair…
If you’re interested, feel free to contact me by replying to this email or via LinkedIn. And if you know someone who might be interested, please forward them this email 🙂.
🎯 Goals for 2025
The main objectives for this year are as follows:
🚀 Keep growing
📝 Write more in-depth articles
🖋️ Boost guest contributors. Write to me if you have something to share. 🙂
🧦 Merchandising. We’re working on something…
🎁 Surprises. I have more ideas in the drawer—honestly, too many for the available time. But little by little, with patience, some of them are coming to life.
💭 Personal thoughts
Truthfully, my reflections haven’t changed much since the last time. I’m very happy with the reception of this small personal project and the community forming around Windletter.
Windletter has helped me learn a lot (a huge amount, I’d say), become a better professional, and meet some very nice and interesting people. I sincerely hope it’s also bringing value and entertainment to you (even just a little).
That said, it hasn’t been easy. Creating content, especially when you’ve been doing it for a while and on a regular basis, requires a significant effort.
Thank you so much for being there week after week, and if you’d like to help me out, I’d deeply appreciate it if you recommended Windletter to your network.
Thank you very much for reading Windletter and many thanks to Tetrace and RenerCycle, our main sponsors, for making it possible. If you liked it:
Give it a ❤️
Share it on WhatsApp with this link
And if you feel like it, recommend Windletter to help me grow 🚀
See you next time!
