Nordex N175-6.X Delta4000
The N175/6.X is Nordex’s bet in the large-rotor onshore segment. The wind turbine is part of the Delta4000 family, a platform that Nordex has progressively scaled with models such as the N149/5.X and the N163/6.X.
With a 175-metre rotor and a power rating of up to 7 MW, it is designed specifically for low- and medium-wind sites, where it promises annual energy production increases of 7–14% compared to previous models.
Recently, Nordex was celebrating 40 GW installed of the Delta4000 platform since its launch in September 2017. Although the truth is that Nordex groups under the same platform models ranging from the N133/4.8 to the N175/6.X, with noteworthy technical differences between them.

Main specifications
Rated power: 6.22 MW (up to 7 MW depending on site conditions)
Rotor / Swept area: 175 m / 24,053 m2
Power density: 291 W/m2 (at 7 MW)
Hub heights / Towers:
Steel: from 112 to 142 m
Hybrid (concrete–steel): up to 179 metres, with versions developed in-house and others from third parties. A 200-metre hybrid version was announced, although later 199 has been mentioned.
Drivetrain: High Speed DFIG
IEC 61400-1 class: Class S
Cut-in / Cut-out: 3–20 m/s
Noise: 106 dB at 6.22 MW
Design lifetime: 25 years, extendable to 35.
Climatic variants:
Normal Climate Version: –20 °C to +40 °C (there may be derating)
Cold Climate Version: cold climates from –30 °C to +40 °C (there may be derating)
Certification: TÜV SÜD Type Certificate
Architecture and design
Drivetrain:
Main shaft: supported by a single spherical roller main bearing in the typical 3-point suspension configuration, with the gearbox torque arms acting as the other two support points.
Gearbox: high-speed, three-stage gearbox (two planetary stages and one helical gear stage). It is equipped with journal bearings instead of rolling bearings on the planetary gears.
Electrical system:
6-pole DFIG generator.
Partial converter located in the nacelle.
Transformer located in the nacelle, immersed in ester.
SF6 medium-voltage switchgear, located at ground level.
Pitch: electric, with a three-stage planetary gearbox per blade and a brake integrated into the motor itself.
Yaw: 7–8 geared motors depending on the site’s climatic conditions. It has a double-row ball bearing with four-point contact and brakes integrated into the drive motors themselves.

85.7 m in length
Manufactured in glass fibre and carbon in the main spar (sparcap)

Tested at the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems IWES (Bremerhaven)

Track record and commercial pipeline
The N175/6.X will be available worldwide, but Nordex expects the main demand to be in Europe.
As of September 2025, Nordex reported that the N175/6.X had already reached almost 2,000 MW in sales, including key markets such as Germany, Spain, Canada, Finland, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Latvia.
